Reassuring from start to finish
Having had direct experience of disaster recovery failure in the distant past, it is critical to MTW that not only are our data backups rock solid, but also that we are able to continue to run our business and look after our clients in event of unforeseen disasters and failures.
We use Avagio’s Protect backup and disaster recovery service and we now have a solution in place that provides automated local and remote image based backup. So not only can we recover data as required, it provides a fast cloud based failover solution in the event that we have a total loss. In addition, we don’t have to worry about changing tapes, disks or paying for expensive upgrades and repairs.
We were reassured during our recent disaster recovery test with Avagio to see not only how quick the recovery was but how our normal office desktop was replicated seamlessly via the failover cloud solution. This means that within hours, our business can be up and running again from anywhere – even in the event of a total server or office loss. This certainly is very reassuring as it continues to help us deliver an excellent service to our clients.

The project was extremely straightforward and pain free. Avagio did an excellent job with the planning process, keeping us up to date all the way through and ensuring that between us we had thought of most of the potential issues. The final swap over to the new server was very quick and easy, our users only really experienced about 30 minutes of being unable to access it which caused very little disruption to our work.
The speed improvement experienced from day one was very impressive
When the company ERP software was upgraded this year, unfortunately the speed left a lot to be desired. We have a multi-site sales operation and it is vital all branches have fast, real time information to hand. Having staff waiting for screens to load is very unproductive and the decision was taken to upgrade the IT infrastructure. Having spoken with Adam and Brett we were offered three options, and opted for the hosted Avagio Cloud solution as recommended.
There were some initial teething issues as to be expected, which were dealt with in the usual efficient Avagio manner, but the speed improvement experienced from day one was very impressive, and the flexibility to work anywhere and add new sites as we grow was also a major draw for us. We were also planning on installing a leased line at the main sales office, however this is no longer required, a saving of over £6000 PA.

When I first took the IT manager role at Tanners they had one Microsoft HyperV and 2 virtual servers. There was not enough capacity to fulfil the business’ IT requirements.
